An incessant chattering knocks

on a purple night.

The sound glitters

in red, pink and blue.

A deliberate smear lights

pathways in the dark and

gathers a fusion of desires

without which, we would be compelled

to relentless stipples.

This luminous transit shifts

mists of grey into yellow pools.

And spawned utterances

throw quietness

on our canvas dreams.

Helen Gibbs’ poem was inspired by several works in the In the realm of others – Project Art Works exhibition.

Helen is a regular attender of Drawn To The Page workshops and  is occasionally moved sufficiently to render some verses from the experience. She is also a bookbinder and maker.
